Welcome to my
homepage. I call myself the only dedicated Argentine Men's national
volleyball team fan in Japan.
Let me allow to introduce myself briefly. I became volleyball fanatic
when I saw the tournament on TV called "Japan Cup" that was held
right after the Seoul Olympic Games. At this point, USA was the top
team in the world. Bronze medallist of the Seoul
Olympic Games was ARGENTINE.
I remember most of players quite well
even though I watched them just on TV. However, I never expected to meet
Cuminetti (he was a sub-member in 1988) at the World Championship 1998 in Japan.
As American team losing their dominance, I lost interest in the USA team. Then Italian team became the top of the world and got me into them. All of them were talented and at the same time very attractive. I couldn't choose the best one. One day I realized that my eyes were following one particular player. That was Luca Cantagalli. I can say that Luca Cantagalli is my eternal idle as a volleyball player.
When Italy was in their peak, I was studying at university in the States. But my friends kept sending me videotapes of Italian team matches so that I could enjoy their spectacular play. At the time I came back to Japan, Italy was facing the phase of changing players for next generation. In 1995 the World Cup was held in Japan and I went to the games in order to see Cantagalli's excellent play. However, he didn't come to Japan due to the operation of his right elbow. How pity!
Since I liked watching volleyball, I saw the very first game. That was China vs. Argentine game. There were too may service errors for both teams. It was a dull game. Suddenly I noticed one of Argentine players showing some good play. It was the time I started to follow Argentine national team. When he made 2 or 3 mistakes, the head coach made a substitution immediately. Yet, he was leading other players in the court and seemed like a mood maker. The best of all he was exactly my type! Guess who he was? Guillermo Quaini.
I know there are many foreign team fans in Japan, however, I've never seen any Argentine fan at games in Japan. Some instant fans call player's name, but they are interested in Argentine only at that moment. Sometimes I feel lonely to be most likely the only Argentine fan at the venue. On the other hand I had some good opportunities to get to know Argentine players in person.
I hope you can find Argentine players are attractive like other foreign players by checking my homepage. ENJOY!
